Newhouse Strategic Counsel was founded by
John Mavridis in 2005 in order to establish a
platform for a more responsive approach to the
practice of law. His experience in developing
strategy for acquisitions and plans for
concluding and integrating mergers have given
him a high level of experience dealing in
different fields and industries - but with one
constant: the Client.

Since the foundation of Newhouse Strategic
Counsel Inc., John Mavridis has participated in
numerous transactions, including the
acquisition and financing of a mine and the
spin-off of a new mining company, both with
equity and a secondary debt financing, the re-
structuring and sale of the assets of a company
under creditor-protection, as well as other
securities and corporate finance mandates for
publicly-listed companies and private investors.
With over $175,000,000 in financings and M&A
transactions being closed in a two-year period,
Newhouse Strategic Counsel has proven that it
is a dynamic platform that can execute on a
plan by putting together a team of professionals
from our network which includes some of the
brightest and hardest working lawyers and
financial professionals from the top-tier firms in
Toronto, Montreal, New York and London.
In addition, John Mavridis has served as a
board member and advised boards and their
individual directors on the various aspects of
their responsibilities including the ever-
developing challenges of board governance.
Given this experience, and the interest that
clients have in this subject-matter, John
Mavridis, is currently enrolled in the Director
Education Program of the Institute of Corporate
Directors in order to further enhance the
knowledge-base for Newhouse and better
serve its clients.
